Every two years, Compass Festival animates the city of Leeds with interactive live art projects in public spaces like shopping centres, markets, museums and the city streets.
This year has been a testing year for culture and back in May we made the decision to postpone Compass Festival from its original November 2020 date, to March 2021.
We’re now thrilled to announce the following projects coming to Leeds next year: Museums in People’s Homes (Joshua Sofaer), Pick Me Up (and hold me tight) (ZU-UK), Public House (Etheridge & Persighetti).
As a festival which largely takes place outside, we’re lucky that most of our projects are still possible, and a lot of the programme can be explored alone, in your bubble or from home.
Working with artists we really believe in, on projects that are rooted in the here and now, in many ways the programme feels more relevant and necessary than ever.
In a time of social and political upheaval, climate crisis and global pandemic, we hope to offer moments of quiet contemplation and opportunities for playful enquiry. Compass Festival is a collective invitation to curiously explore our city again.
Look out for the announcement of our full festival programme in January 2021 and we look forward to welcoming you to #CompassFestival on 19 – 28 March.
